Ga-Rei-Zero 1
October 14th, 2008Continuing with my Fall 2008 posts, here’s Ga-Rei-Zero, a supernatural series. I read a few reviews before watching this, and since the opening isn’t introduced in this first episode, I figured I should just touch on that instead. When I read the description of Ga-rei-zero, I thought “Bleach clone,” but others say it’s like Ghostbusters. Either way, I planned on looking into it. I haven’t read many great reviews of it, but that kind of impels me to watch it and find something good about it. We’ll see. I’m still experimenting with format and whatnot. Chaos;Head 1
October 13th, 2008This series is based on a visual novel, apparently. I’d kind of like to play a visual novel, but my Japanese skills are still extremely limited (and not going anywhere with my current schoolwork load). I’ll continue with my stream of consciousness-style reviews, because it’s what I prefer. I’m just throwing my initial impressions out there and deciding what to watch this fall. Toaru Majutsu no Index 1
October 10th, 2008The fall anime season is well underway, and I’m going to try to stay on top of it this time. I’d like to analyze, and give a bit of summary for potential viewers as well as those who are watching it presently. Therefore, I’ll start with Toaru Majutsu no Index today, and try and touch on some of the others during this week and next. Read the rest of this entry »

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Episodes 1-5
August 19th, 2008I’m not going to miss my chance to write about a series that just started! And especially not this one. I originally didn’t consider watching this until a friend recommended it. I’m really glad that I gave it a chance. Nogizawa Haruka looks, from the outside, like another Genshiken or Lucky Star type of meta-anime genre, “lolz, otaku!” kinda deals. Thankfully, it is not (not that I disliked Lucky Star or Genshiken). Read the rest of this entry »

State of the Geass
August 4th, 2008I jumped on the anime blogging train much too late, it seems. I would really have liked to write about some of my favorite series from start to end, especially Code Geass R2. However, I think I can still manage to write something intelligible on the matter. As I am writing this, Code Geass R2 has progressed through episode 17. I’m writing this assuming that you’re seen that far. I recently rewatched much of R2, so I think it’s time for a brief recap. Read the rest of this entry »

I Passed!
August 3rd, 2008Continuing on my mission to improve the internet, I took the Japanese translation test at animelyrics.com. Moments after submiting the test, I realized that I mistook 走 for 定, meaning that my romanization was a bit off (the English translation I did wasn’t really affected too much, since I translated it pretty loosely). By some miracle, though, I passed, which means that I’ll be able to publicize my translations on their site. Read the rest of this entry »

Gunroar
August 3rd, 2008I’d like to start my anime-themed blog with a post about (what else?) a game. A free (as in “costs nothing”) Japanese PC game, in fact. As the title to this post suggests, the game itself is called “Gunroar.” It’s an arcade-style vertically scrolling shooter with vector-based graphics. Read the rest of this entry »
